Summer Reminded Me Why This Matters 🀍

Hi friend,

I've spent the last couple of weeks back on the Central Coast photographing Summer Sessions and weddings, and I can't tell you how full my heart feels.

It struck me this week that although every day looked different, they all had one thing in common.

One day I was documenting two people promising forever.

The next, I was chasing toddlers across the beach with parents whose wedding I photographed years ago.

Different milestones. Same story.

It reminded me that this job has never really been about weddings or family sessions.

It's about preserving the people you love before life quietly changes again.

This summer alone, I photographed families whose engagement sessions I still remember like they were yesterday. I've watched couples become husbands and wives, then dog parents, then parents of tiny humans, and now families chasing toddlers across the beach. I've found myself saying, "Oh my gosh... look how much they've grown." I've heard, "We missed you!" more times than I can count. I've laughed, cried, and celebrated alongside friendships that started with a camera in my hand.

It's one of the greatest privileges of my job.

As I was driving home after one of my sessions this week, it hit me...

These photos have become so much more than annual family pictures.

They're a record of a life that's constantly changing.

One more missing tooth.

One more year of tiny hands reaching for yours.

One more season that you'll never get back.

That's why I believe so deeply in documenting families year after year.

Because life changes quietly. Whether you're feeling completely in love with this season of life or just trying to make it through the busyness, it's worth remembering. The ordinary days often become the ones we miss the most. One day you'll look back and realize just how much has changed.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing something I've been dreaming up that reflects this idea perfectly, and I can't wait to tell you about it.

Until then, thank you.

Thank you for trusting me with your memories, your milestones, and your families over the years.

It never gets old.

Cheers,

Kasie

P.S. Before I start dreaming about fall, I have one little surprise. Two Summer Session spots unexpectedly opened up for Friday, August 7. I wasn't planning to offer any more, so I'm sharing them with my newsletter family first. If you'd love one, simply hit reply and I'll send you the booking link.

Hi Friend, I just wanted to pop into your inbox with a quick reminder because we're officially one week away. The Tradition Collection opens for newsletter subscribers on Tuesday, August 18, and I couldn't be more excited. This year is a little different. Instead of offering family sessions throughout the season, I'll only be back on the Central Coast for one week: SAVE THE DATE | October 8–12 Five days. One trip. One opportunity to photograph families this fall. Whether this is your first...

Hi Friend, If you've been around SLO Town for a while, you probably know that every fall I open a limited number of Fall Mini Sessions. For more than thirteen years, they've become something many families look forward to. I've watched calendars fill, little ones grow, and familiar faces return year after year. But somewhere along the way, I realized they had become something much bigger. The more I thought about it, the more I realized... These sessions have never really been about fall. Yes,...

Hi friends, July is busyyyy! Weddings, travel, fair, summer fun and making memories nonstop. In the middle of it all, it’s easy to let photos live only on your phone or computer.
