Choosing the Right Session for Your Season of Life

Hi friends,

Spring means fresh starts, longer days, blooming landscapes, and that feeling of wanting to press pause and capture the season you’re in right now. It’s one of my favorite times of year for photos because everything feels a little lighter, a little more joyful, and full of possibility. Whether you’re updating family photos, celebrating a milestone, or planning a wedding, this is such a beautiful season to document it all.

Spring Wedding – Sam & Amber

Sam & Amber’s wedding is such a perfect example of how beautiful spring celebrations can be. Even with a little rain, their day was full of warmth, intention, and so much joy, the kind that truly shines through in photos. It’s a reminder that the magic of your day isn’t about perfect conditions, but about the connection and meaning behind every moment.

More time allows more flexibility, especially with kids. Full sessions create space for breaks, outfit changes, and organic moments that unfold naturally.

One of the most common questions I get this time of year is whether a full session or a mini session is the better fit. The truth is ... it really depends on your family, your pace, and what you want out of the experience. In this blog, I break down the real differences beyond just time and pricing, so you can confidently choose the option that supports your family best. If you’ve ever felt unsure, this will help you make a decision that feels easy and aligned.

👉 Full vs Mini Sessions: Which Is Right for Your Family?

If you’re thinking about spring photos, I’d love to help you choose the session that feels right and get you on the calendar.

Every family I work with is in a different season, some with little ones who need time and space, others just wanting a quick update to capture this chapter. That’s why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I’ve found that when families choose the session that truly fits their needs, everything feels easier, more relaxed, and ultimately more meaningful.

I’m here to guide you through that decision, answer your questions, and help create an experience that feels natural and fun from start to finish. My goal is always the same, for you to walk away not just with beautiful photos, but with memories of a moment where you felt connected, present, and fully yourselves.

There’s no “right” choice, just what works best for you in this season. And I’m so honored to be a small part of capturing it.

Cheers,

Kasie

Hi Friend, I just wanted to pop into your inbox with a quick reminder because we're officially one week away. The Tradition Collection opens for newsletter subscribers on Tuesday, August 18, and I couldn't be more excited. This year is a little different. Instead of offering family sessions throughout the season, I'll only be back on the Central Coast for one week: SAVE THE DATE | October 8–12 Five days. One trip. One opportunity to photograph families this fall. Whether this is your first...

Hi Friend, If you've been around SLO Town for a while, you probably know that every fall I open a limited number of Fall Mini Sessions. For more than thirteen years, they've become something many families look forward to. I've watched calendars fill, little ones grow, and familiar faces return year after year. But somewhere along the way, I realized they had become something much bigger. The more I thought about it, the more I realized... These sessions have never really been about fall. Yes,...

Hi friend, I've spent the last couple of weeks back on the Central Coast photographing Summer Sessions and weddings, and I can't tell you how full my heart feels. It struck me this week that although every day looked different, they all had one thing in common. One day I was documenting two people promising forever. The next, I was chasing toddlers across the beach with parents whose wedding I photographed years ago. Different milestones. Same story. It reminded me that this job has never...
